'Food Matters' Documentary Tells Us Why

The documentary Food Matters, being shown at New Leaf on March 11 and globally, reveals proven ways to overcome illness naturally through the right kinds of foods, supplements, and detoxification.

When you think “food,” do you think “medicine”? Do you feel that “You are what you eat”? I find these questions good food for thought. Do you?

The expression, “food is the best medicine,” dates back to about 300 BC. Hippocrates (c. 460 BC – c. 370 BC), considered the founding father of modern medicine said, "Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food." This message comes across loud and clear in the film being shown for free at Westside and Capitola stores on Sunday, March 11 from 6 – 8 p.m.

The producer-directors of Food Matters, James Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch, are on a mission. They are providing free screenings of their film around the world to raise awareness about the trillion dollar ‘sickness industry’ that is making us sicker as a society, and to share scientifically verifiable ways to overcome illness naturally through the right kinds of foods, supplements, and detoxification.

It’s impressive that Colquhoun and ten Bosch have independently funded this film so they could remain unbiased as possible. The film includes interviews with leading nutritionists, naturopaths, scientists, M.D.s and medical journalists who discuss alternative therapies that can be more effective, more economical, less harmful and less invasive than conventional medical treatments.

If you can’t make it to see the film at New Leaf Community Markets in Capitola (1210 41st Ave) or on the Westside (1101 Fair Ave., Santa Cruz), Sunday, March 11 from 6 pm - 8 p.m., you can watch the first 40 minutes online for free. I bet that will whet your appetite to learn more. For information about the film, visit http://www.foodmatters.tv/index.
