Celebrate Hairstylist Appreciation Day in Capitola-Soquel

April 30 is Hairstylist Appreciation Day. Where do you go to get your haircut and who is your favorite barber/hairstylist?

Did you know that April 30 is Hairstylist Appreciation Day? And seriously, it's important. People see your hair every day, right? Well, unless you're Bruce Willis or you're really into hoodies.

It's easy to take your barber/hairstylist for granted. If you haven't seen them since your last haircut, which could have been two months ago or a year ago, they're just not in the forefront of your mind. But when you look in the mirror, at least today, April 30, toss a little appreciation to whomever it is that styled those beautiful locks shining back at you.

So now that it's on your mind, who are you appreciative of today? We have a good crop of hairstylists in Capitola-Soquel. Over at , Martha gives out massages to top off every haircut.  has a great reputation as does much of his staff, many of whom have been there since 1994. is worth a visit just to check out the art on the walls, and of course to get a cut from Max Callaway or Sarah Lubak. Over on our Facebook page, reader Nancy Sudman recommends Jonelle at .

But who is your favorite hairstylist/barber in Capitola-Soquel? Where do you get your haircut? Tell us in the comments!

Glad you mentioned Pablo Yee, owner of Kepare. I admired the haircut of a neighbor and that's how I found him. Excellent work!

Mindy Palmer @ Strands has my vote! Seriously where else can you get a cut and a beverage when you sit down. Everyone @ the shop is friendly and helpful. Leselle

A beverage? Nice! What kind of beverage, Leselie? I'm a big fan of Martha's massages over at Plaza Barber Shop. But often I just go to Super Cuts, since there's almost never a wait there.

I get so many compliments on my cut and style that I actually keep business cards with me to hand out. Maura, at Urban Groove, has been cutting and highlighting my hair for well over a dozen years. She is absolutely the best!!
