Ida Hills: Resident of Aptos. She was an Eagle Girl Scout, avid environmentalist and author. Passed away Aug. 26. She was 92.
James Rouff: Resident of Ben Lomond. His children live in Capitola. He loved animals and served in the US Army. Passed away Aug. 25. He was 69.
Mary Selzer: Resident of Capitola. Graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1933. She played chamber music in public with her husband Ludwig and wrote poetry until her death. Passed away Aug. 26. She was 98.
Norma Grasso: Resident of Soquel. She was born in the Greek Islands and served as a secretary to a stockbroker until the market crashed in 1929. She moved to Aptos in the early 1960s. Passed away Aug. 29. She was 98.
Edie Stene: Resident of La Selva Beach. She retired from teaching in 1990. She went to both opening day and the final game ever played by the Giants at Candlestick Park. Passed away Aug. 30. She was 86.
Philip Christ: Resident of Aptos. He grew up in New York and served in the Korean War. He moved to Santa Cruz County in the 1980s. Passed away Aug. 31. He was 83.
