Carpo's Heir Passes Away at 22

Gaelen Todd died at home last week.

If you took a spin by Carpo's over the last few days for their famous salad bar or burger options, you probably noticed the the doors were locked.

Tragically, this was due to the death of Gaelen Todd, the 22-year-old son of Carpo's owners Todd Todd and Andrea Todd.

Resident of Corralitos

Gaelen Bodi Todd passed away August 20, 2012 at his Corralitos home, at the age of 22. Gaelen was born in Santa Cruz on May 29, 1990, the son of Todd Todd and Andrea Todd.

Gaelen grew up and spent most of his life as a resident of Corralitos. He was a graduate of Aptos High School and attended Cabrillo College. He worked at and Firefish Restaurant on the municipal wharf. 

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Watsonville and was also an Eagle Scout. Gaelen was a loving son and brother and was always there for his family and friends. He loved music, skateboarding, snowboarding, playing golf and mountain biking. His smile was contagious and he was loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his mother, Andrea Todd, his father, Todd Todd, his sister, Brie, his brother, Indiana and a large extended family.

Services [were] held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 255 Holm Rd., Watsonville, CA on Monday August 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Oakwood Memorial Park, Paul Sweet Rd., Santa Cruz, CA. Visitation will be held at Benito Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA on Sunday from 4:00 pm. Until 7:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Carpo's reopened on Tuesday, but the community is far from done mourning the loss of Gaelen. A remembrence Facebook page has been set up in his honor, and it has already garnered 855 likes.  In addition, his Santa Cruz Sentinel Guest Book has nearly 30 entries.
