Jail Bird Exposed! A Pet Sitting Exclusive!

I was a Prison Pup!

Hi, My Name is Foxy and I have lived here in Santa Cruz about five years. I’m a Midwest transplant and I used to live in a prison in Ohio of all places! Grafton Correctional Institution in Loraine County, Ohio to be exact. I sure didn’t need pet sitting then! I want to make it clear that I was NOT sent to prison for breaking the law, on the contrary I was sent there to both help and be helped.  Sounds a bit strange doesn’t it? But I’m serious; I was part of a community service program called Love-A-Pup. The help I received was obedience training, sit, stay, how to be a good dog, walking on a leash, and such so I could go on and be adopted by my forever family. By living in the prison I helped my inmate give back to his community and he made a positive contribution to society. I also helped by reducing the amount of boredom and tension in the prison so it was safer for everyone who lived there and worked there. Pretty cool, huh? The way I see it, they were all my pets and I was the pet sitter!

How I got to Santa Cruz

I was very well behaved and adopted by a wonderful pet loving couple who were seniors. Unfortunately they both passed away.  After a week or so their daughter Nellie, my new mom, had me shipped out to Santa Cruz to live with her and her partner. I got a new Grandma too! The plane ride was pretty scary but I’m so glad I came!

Lot's of Pet Sitting for Me!

Mom and Kim have to leave town for work quite a bit. Fortunately I have Nickie Z., my pet sitter to take care of me while they are gone. I feel really lucky because Nickie has been a big part of my life since I first moved to Santa Cruz.  She stays at my house, in home pet care, and sometimes I stay at her house. She takes me on great dog walks and trips to the beach. It's more than just pet sitting, we are good friends too. Every time she comes over, even if it’s just to see my moms, I get so excited! All that obedience training just flies out the window until I’m done jumping up and down and giving her as many doggie kisses as I can. Life is good here in Santa Cruz and pet sitting rocks!
