FRIENDS OF SANTA CRUZ STATE PARKS ANNOUNCES 2013 MISSION ADOBE SUMMER SERIES OF COMMUNITY EVENTS

SUMMER SERIES TO INCLUDE MUSIC & ART, MOVIES, MOLE, MARIACHIS & MORE

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks (Friends), a non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining the legacy of our local state parks and beaches, today announced the 2013 Mission Adobe Summer Series of community events. The Summer Series is a key milestone in the comeback of Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park, which was scheduled to close in 2012, but was saved by Friends. The Summer Series offers community members and visitors special events including First Fridays music and art, outdoor movies and a festive series finale featuring mole (a chocolate-based sauce used in Mexican cuisine), mariachis and more. All events are admission FREE with donations welcome, proceeds from which benefit the park.

“The Mission Adobe is a largely undiscovered gem in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz,” said Bonny Hawley, executive director of Friends. “We’re proud to have saved the park from closure last year. The Mission Adobe Summer Series provides a wonderful opportunity for us to increase access to this downtown state park.”
