Apparently, there is a bit of an interest in just what it is that we do here at Avalon Visions. So, I figured that I would start this blog with a kind of introduction to our shop.
My name is Gwen Thomas, and I am the owner of . My husband and I bought the shop about 4 years ago after the second owner realized that she simply could not continue working in a spiritual shop. After much hard work, and a whole lot of help from my friends, including the first owner, we brought the shop back to life. I guess that it didn't hurt any that I had years of interest and a solid background in the metaphysical world.
As far back as I can remember, I had an interest in the topic. I think that maybe my interest started when I nearly died at about age 3. After that, I always felt that my life purpose was that I was supposed to help others find and understand the spirit world. Every breath I took seemed to remind me of my own need for spirituality. I read everything available about the topic, while simultaneously going all the way through school, eventually finishing with an AA, a BA, an MSL, and a JD. I guess I had to work in the legal field long enough to understand that it just wasn't where my heart was.
I suppose that until I reached my 30s, I just couldn't see how I could ever find work in the metaphysical world. So, I felt obligated to study other things, too. Then, I woke up to the realization that all I had to do was create my job. That's when I started working with an aura camera. Not only was that a blast, but it became my specialty.
Over the next ten years or so, one thing led to another, and it became very obvious that I should buy Avalon Visions. So I did.
Now, I work with a really cool group of people. You will hear from them from time to time. They are excited to tell you what they do (so am I).
