Santa Cruz Warriors Go Green for a Week of Environmental Causes

The Warriors are teaming with charities for clean air, clean water and nature conservancy on their upcoming homestand.

When the Warriors return home this week, they are raising the green flag.

The Santa Cruz basketball team is not only raising funds, but rewarding students who reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The team has already started efforts with its bicycle parking lot, which is packed for every game.

The team will host green-themed activities during each of its next three games, including time-out games, face painting and a half time show. In addition to the bike parking already on site at the Kaiser Permanente Arena, People Power will provide free bike valet within a short walking distance of the arena. Fans will be encouraged to do their part by walking, biking, bussing or carpooling to games this week and to all events at the Kaiser Permanente Arena.

The team's mascot, Mav’Riks will also be in attendance at a volunteer workday, hosted by the Volunteers to Save Soquel Creek, at 831 Bay Avenue on the morning of Saturday, March 23.
