5% of the day's sales at New Leaf in Santa Cruz and Capitola will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, which works to end hunger and malnutrition in our county by educating and involving the community. Through 200 agencies and programs and over 3,000 volunteers, the Food Bank distributes over eight million pounds of food annually. Half of those helped are children.
Even though the local economy is improving, the cost of housing has risen dramatically and more people may need the food bank’s help this fall and winter. Meet representatives will be on hand to talk about how they are working to meet the needs in our community.
