On January 8 at 10:30am, the Porter
Memorial Library located at 3050 Porter Street begins our series with local
author, John Bargetto.  He will be
speaking about his first published book, Vintage

John Bargetto, Director of Winemaking
at Bargetto Winery will discuss a history of winemaking in Soquel. John
literally grew up in the wine business.
During the “crush” seasons, John did his homework to the sounds of grape
trucks arriving, the old crusher humming, and men working late into the night
outside the kitchen window.

The history of the Bargetto winemaking family of
Soquel is an iconic American story rich with history—one marked with hard work
and determination, family love,

occasional setbacks, vision and perseverance.  In John Bargetto’s new book, co-written with
Geoffrey Dunn and with an afterword by Sandy Lydon, the fascinating tale of the
winery is captured with loving sensitivity.

Incorporating stunning archives of historical
photographs and images, Vintage Bargetto tells the
story of the American Dream coming to life at a little winery nestled on the
edges of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Please join us
in welcoming John Bargetto as he gives us his personal account with a reading,
discussion and signing of Vintage

The public is invited to the free “Meet
the Author Fireside Chats” at the Porter Memorial Library.  These are informal coffee hours set around
the fireplace.  They feature local
authors who discuss their works and answer questions from the audience.  The authors also sell and autograph their
books.  Refreshments and coffee will be
served, with The Ugly Mug providing the coffee.
Limited parking is available behind the library.  Enter from Soquel Drive into The Bagelry
parking lot and drive through to the left.
