The moist and savory tamale is a traditional cornerstone of Mexican cuisine with a rich history dating back to Mayan civilization over 8000 years. Tamales are eaten both for breakfast and dinner. The process of making tamales just seems to bring people together. In Mexico the generations gather in the kitchen especially around the holidays to enjoy time together and share in the hands-on cooking process. In this tamale making class we will learn the art of making fresh masa, seasonal fillings, wrapping techniques and savory sauces that will complement each other and will make your mouth water. You will take home the recipes, knowledge and experience you learned in class so you can create your own tasty tradition at home.
Vegetarians are welcome! Both meat and vegetarian fillings will be available to work with.
