Replacement Pipe Arriving as More Floods Threaten Capitola

Rain is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.

Update 2:34 p.m.: The city has released a statement announcing that replacement pipe materials are expected to arrive in Capitola this afternoon.

According to the city, while the pipe is being replaced, "Bay Avenue from Rosedale Avenue to Monterey Avenue will be closed toall vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The duration of the closure is unknown at this time." 

Original Report: New forecasts from the National Weather Service are showing a storm developing that could hit Capitola on Friday evening, with rain and heavy winds lasting through Saturday.

The storm could cause flooding similar to last week, as the broken pipe in Noble Gulch Creek that caused the first two events has yet to be fixed. 

According to an official release from the city of Capitola, crews will continue "working around the clock to install a replacement pipe."

A timeline for completion of the pipe repair is not known at this time, but "all efforts are being made to have a pipe in place prior to Friday evening."
