Week in Review: SmoQe Closes, Capitola Restaurant Vandalized, and the Renes Perform

Last Sunday evening,, after three years in business. One of the chefs told Patch that the restaurant had lost too much in its first year to make it up, although he hopes to find a way to reopen the restaurant.
Monday morning started the news week off with a bang, literally, with a 22 year old local man in Capitola and destroying everything inside. According to Sgt. Matt Eller of the Capitola Police Department, Gregory St. John Auer committed a "felony's worth of vandalism." According to employees who were at the restaurant Monday when a recently-bailed-out Auer came to the crime scene with his father, Auer said he doesn't remember doing any of it.
