Made-up Shark Warnings Found at Pleasure Point, TV Station Reports

Someone concerned with surfer safety, a prankster or local trying to keep other surfers out of the water posted fake shark warnings at Pleasure Point on Thursday, TV station KSBW reports.

The signs said three shark attacks had occurred recently at nearby surf spots, according to the KSBW story.

Public safety officials have not issued any warnings about aggressive sharks in area waters, nor have they released information about shark attacks.

The signs urged surfers to head to Cowell Beach, a surf break in Santa Cruz, instead of getting in the water at Pleasure Point. The KSBW story hinted that the cross-town rivalry may have something to do with the signs.
