Halloween Comes a Day Early in Capitola Village

Kids are set to line up in costume at 1:30 p.m.

When Halloween falls on a Monday, the celebration suddenly turns from a one-night affair to a four-day extravaganza, stretching Friday through the actual holiday.

As that's the case in 2011, Capitola Village is making Sunday, Oct. 30, its day for devilish dress and sugar overdose.

The Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce has organized a children's parade set for 2 p.m., followed by autumnal activities. Kids can start lining up, in costume, at 1:30 in the Pacific Cove Parking Lot behind Capitola City Hall. The parade will then snake through the village starting 30 minutes later, ending at the beach.

In Esplanade Park, parade-goers can expect food, entertainment and pumpkin painting. Participation is free of charge.
