Earthquake Recap: Three Shakes Near South County

Did you feel any of the earthquakes near the county this week?

Three earthquakes made waves on the Richter scale in and around Santa Cruz County this week, with the largest measured at 3.5, six miles east of Watsonville.

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Sunday morning, 82 people reported feeling the 3.5 on the U.S. Geological Survey website. Seven people reported feeling the 2.6, including three in Watsonville.
