Earthquake Recap: Five Trembles Shake County

Did you feel any of the earthquakes this week?

Five earthquakes made waves on the Richter scale near south Santa Cruz County this week, the largest registering at 3.4 It was followed by a 3.2 aftershock as well as a 1.7 aftershock, all within 40 minutes.

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Saturday evening, 345 people reported feeling the 3.4, including 15 people in Aptos, two in Capitola, eight in Santa Cruz and 109 in Watsonville on the U.S. Geological Survey website. Seventeen people reported feeling the 3.2, including 3 in Watsonville.
