Earthquake Recap: Five Shakes Around County

Did you feel any of the earthquakes this week?

Five tiny earthquakes made waves on the Richter scale on the outskirts of Santa Cruz County this week, with the two largest both measured at 1.6, six miles NNE of Scotts Valley and offshore 13 miles WSW of Boulder Creek.

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Saturday evening, no one reported feeling either earthquake on the U.S. Geological Survey website. However, two people in Watsonville and one person in Santa Cruz did report feeling a 3.4 that hit on Thursday at 9:15 a.m.

See the chart below for times, locations, etc. of the seismic events.
