Capitola Population Ticked Up in 2012

Santa Cruz County as a whole grew by about 1,300 people last year.

Data released this month by the California Department of Finance shows that Santa Cruz County grew slightly in population in 2012, as did Capitola, growing 0.3 percent from 9,957 up to 9,988 people.

Santa Cruz — 2011: 61,825 2012: 62,327 +0.9% 
Scotts Valley — 2011: 11,613 2012: 11,687 +0.6% 
Watsonville — 2011: 51,484 2012: 51,612 +0.2% 
Rest of County — 2011: 130,471 2012: 131,012 +0.4%
