'Saturday Night Live' Alum Coming to Capitola Book Cafe

Chris Elliott will be in Capitola on Oct. 13 and you can see him for just $5.

Saturday nights at the Capitola Book Cafe certainly aren't known for rivaling NBC's Studio 8H, the home of "Saturday Night Live" for the past 38 years. But the 41st Avenue book giant is known for pulling in big names for its weekly events, and one Saturday this month will have an SNL slant.

Chris Elliott, who was a castmember on the late night weekend sketch show in 1994 and 1995, will be at the Book Cafe Oct. 13 at 5:30 to talk about his new book The Guy Under The Sheets: The Unauthorized Autobiography.

Elliott's career in the comedy spotlight is nearing 30 years. In addition to his time on SNL, he has appeared in dozens of high profile comedies like "There's Something About Mary," "How I Met Your Mother," "Groundhog Day," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Late Night with David Letterman."

While writing for Letterman in the 1980s, Elliott earned seven Emmy nominations, and brought home four of the awards. His Daughter, Abby Elliott, was a castmember on SNL from 2008 until 2012, making them the first parent-child castmember combination in the show's history.

The Guy Under The Sheets: The Unauthorized Autobiography, is Elliott's fourth book — the Book Cafe calls it a "mostly-fictional autobiography." It is "so personal, so provocative, that Elliott nearly sued himself to halt publication," the Book Cafe joked in an email blast.

Check out the funny man for only $5 — tickets can be purchased by clicking here. Hold on to your ticket stub to get $5 off the book (released Oct. 11) at the event. Or, prepay for your book and receive free admission to the event. General admission for the event begins at 4 p.m., and Elliott will take the floor at 5:30.
