Final Election Results: Capitola Sales Tax to Increase, Councilmembers Elected

After almost a month, all votes have been counted and it has been determined that sales tax will go up and one new person will be named to the Capitola City Council.

With results trickling in since late on Nov. 6, it has always been too close to call both the Capitola City Council election and the results of the vote on Measure O.

But finaly vote counts were finalized on Tuesday evening and we have them for you here:

Ed Bottorff and Dennis Norton edged out Jacques Bertrand for the two seats on the Capitola City Council. This will be Norton's second term in a row and Bottorff's first ever on the council.

Measure O, which will increase sales tax in Capitola by 0.25 percent to replenish funds drained by the March 2011 floods, passed 69 votes.
