City Agrees to Help Improve Capitola Mall
The city of Capitola plans to provide approximately $1 million to mall development.
The city of Capitola has agreed to provide approximately $1 million toward improvement of the 41st Avenue portion of the Capitola Mall.
Last week, the city reached an agreement with Macerish Partnership, the owner of the mall, to iron out improvement plans. According to an official release from the city, the funds will go be used to "widen sidewalks; install landscaping, street trees and street furniture within public right-of-way; assist with the reconstruction of the existing public transit center currently located within the Capitola Mall to improve public access and circulation; and improve bicycle access."
In accordance with the agreement, improvements paid for by the city can only be done on the 41st Avenue side of the building and should be completed within three years, with two optional one-year extensions.
