CBS Early Show Reports Capitola Flood Insurance Debacle

Business owners in Capitola are still struggling with lingering issues from the March floods.

Capitola merchants are still picking up the pieces from that hit the Village last March. For some, the situation has grown so dire that even the CBS Early Show picked up on the story Thursday morning.

As has been the case since the day of the first deluge, some insurance companies argue that the cause of all the damage is simply flooding, which is a problem for business owners without flood insurance. However, even many with flood insurance are struggling to rebuild as those insurance companies are claiming it was not actually a flood, but a broken pipe that resulted in so much wreckage.

It's all in the fine print.
