Capitola Carolers Bringing Sounds of the Holidays

Annual evening of Christmas carols comes to Capitola Village tonight at 6 p.m.

The Christmas season often means presents, Santa Claus, family and traditions. One of Capitola's favorite traditions in recent years has been an evening of caroling with the Soquel High School Jazz Singers.

The carolers return Friday for an evening of songs and fun at Capitola Village. Anyone wishing to join the singers can meet at 6 p.m. at the Christmas Tree at the intersection of Capitola and Stockton avenues.

"It's a charming community event. People get together and kick off the holidays," said Carrie Arnone of the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce. "The Village looks so pretty all lit up. It's just a nice family event It's very simple, quaint and charming."

Dress warmly and bring a flashlight to join the strolling carolers. Song books will be provided, along with refreshments.

"The restaurants love it. There are usually more people on the esplanade frequenting the restaurants this time of the year," Arnone said. "It's fun for people who are caroling. It brings back a charming tradition … and Capitola Village is a charming place to do it."
