Police in Santa Cruz are considering driving a police cruiser up Branciforte Creek to push a mountain lion back into the hills Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark told Patch.

As of 10 a.m., the mountain lion was napping in the aqueduct where it is trapped on May Avenue near downtown Santa Cruz.

It appears that the lion walked past some medical offices and jumped over a fence into the creek. There was fur on the fence.

The mountain lion was walking around and trying to get out of the aqueduct earlier in the morning.

KSBW reported that the mountain lion was first seen around 7:30 a.m.
