Mark Russo and the Classy Cats Playing Capitola Beach Wednesday

The Capitola Twilight Concert Series is nearing its end.

There are just two shows left in the , and the first of the duo is set to take the Esplanade Bandstand Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

The free show, featuring big band Mark Russo and the Classy Cats, is sponsored by Red Tree Properties. 

Mark Russo is a trained musician who graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1977 with a degree with woodwind performance. Since then, he has performed and taught music all over California with local groups, orchestras and operas, and even played with legendary rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The Classy Cats come in multiple forms, including a jazz trio, classical trio, seven-piece group and 12-piece big band. The largest iteration of the group includes two trumpets, four saxophones, two trombones, a piano, bass, drums and a female vocalist.

In case you can't make it to the Capitola show, Mark Russo and the Classy Cats will play the happy hour show at Faz Restaurant in Sunnyvale on Aug. 25.
