Grab & Go Kids' Planner: Aladdin, Surfing Museum and Kids on the Run

See CYT's presentation of Aladdin, celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum, go to a family music jam or take the trip to California's Great Adventure: our suggestions for this week's Kids Planner.

Where/When: 2701 Cabrillo College Dr, Aptos,  (Monschke Hall, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday)

Why Go: It's always a pleasure to see the tale of Aladdin and even more so, when it is performed by a local children's theater group. Your children will enjoy it, and you will, too.

 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: It's time for a family musical jam. The fourth Friday of the month is a regular musical fest here with singing, dancing, playing instruments and more. You and your kids can bring  your favorite CDs to share, an instrument to play or a song to sing. This is musical fun for the everyone.

Pricing: Sliding scale of $10 to $25 per family.

Where/When: 6500 Soquel Dr, Aptos, Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go: As you well know, this is one of the best farmers markets around and it's a fun place to go with your family on a Saturday. This Saturday will be even more special with KSCO’s Live and Local edition of Food Chain Radio with Michael Olson. The show is a regular feature the fourth Saturday of the month. The show will be fun for your kids to see and hear what it takes to broadcast a radio show live.

Where/When: , 701 W Cliff Dr, Santa Cruz, Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Together you and your children can celebrate 25 years of the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum and all it has done to document the history of surfing. Surf stars, music and refreshments will make the day special.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Soquel High School, 401 Old San Jose Road, Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Why Go: While this is not a weekend activity, we think it's worth pointing out as something you and your children should know about. The competition for ages 5 to 13 lets the kids compete in up to four events ranging from the 100-meter dash, hurdles, throws, jumps and more. A future Olympian may be among the ranks.
