Get out in Capitola-Soquel: Music, Music, Music

A couple of different free concerts to choose from, a cooking class and a skate boarding fest are just some of the choices as you get ready to Get Out in Capitola-Soquel.

Where/When: 131 Monterey Ave. Wednesdays starting June 22, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Sit in the park or on the beach, bring a picnic supper and enjoy the music. It's summer (well, almost) and the Art & Cultural Commission is kicking off the traditional Wednesday night Twilight Concerts in Esplanade Park. This can be an excellent family time to share a meal and enjoy the music.

Where/When: , 1210 41st Ave/. Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Mokai plays some truly amazing original music on fingerstyle guitar. You can stop by the cafe to listen to his bluesy voice and lyrics that are bound to reach out and grab you.

Where/When: , 400 Beach St, Santa Cruz, Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: It's the kickoff for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's free Friday Night Bands summer series. The music will continue until Labor Day weekend! Two shows every Friday an early bird special at 6:30 p.m., and another at 8:30 p.m.  It's summer and time to listen to the music.

Where/When: , 1710 41st Ave/. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why Go: Celebrity chef Grandma Dave is in Capitola to give you a cooking lesson. Grandma Dave will give you some ideas featuring what he describes as "fresh, wholesome and life-changing recipes." And what's more, if you attend, you will get a free bottle of Grandma Dave's famous spices.

Where/When: , 1710 41st Ave., Saturday, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Here's a skateboarding event that can be fun for everyone. Santa Cruz Boardroom and Whole Foods Capitola are partnering to put on an event where they will erect skate ramps and provide hot dogs and root beer floats. It's all happening in the parking lot right in front of the market.
