Former KGO Host Bill Wattenburg Migrating to KSCO

KGO listeners who are irate over have some relief. Santa Cruz radio station KSCO-AM (1080) will have Dr. Bill Wattenburg on the air this Wednesday from noon-2 p.m as a one-day fill-in for Corey Gold.

Wattenburg is a controversial conservative with an extensive science background who has stepped out of the boundaries of just doing radio for the past 40 years.

A former UC Berkeley electrical engineering professor who is a consultant at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, he holds patents for a mine sweeper made from plow blades and a home alarm system that uses the home's electrical wiring as a medium.

He's friends with Clint Eastwood and has had the actor and director on his show many times.

Wattenburg is a big proponent of nuclear energy, which he says is preferable and cleaner than using coal, which should stir up the Santa Cruz audience.

Meanwhile, despondent KGO fans, who lost almost all of their longtime favorite talk show hosts in a mass firing last Thursday, have set up a Facebook page called "Former Listeners of KGO Radio Newstalk 810," which has over 3,200 users.

KSCO owner Michael Zwerling has said he would try to hire some of the KGO personalities.
