Extra Large Plays Esplanade Bandstand Wednesday Evening

The Twilight Concert Series continues this week with a free performance from Santa Cruz's 'Best Local Band.'

Every Wednesday this summer brings another musical act to the bandstand in Capitola's Esplanade Park, and this week, the talent on display will be Extra Large, sponsored by . 

The show, as always with the , is free and will run from 6-8 p.m.

Extra Large has been named the Best Local Band by Good Times every year since 2006 for its upbeat style. The funk/rock band plays feel-good music that has made it a mainstay on the county live music scene for a long time.

The band plays both original and cover songs. The covers span artists including The Rolling Stones, G. Love, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Barry White, Will Smith and Prince. 

Extra Large is comprised of founder and lead vocalist Russ Leal; his wife, Valerie Leal (percussion, vocals)' Gary "Killer" Andrijasevich (drums, vocals); Chris Sandman (bass); Dan Becker (keyboards, vocals, accordion, melodica); and Dave Byron (guitar, vocals).
