Chris Rene Reaches 'X-Factor' Top Five
The Santa Cruz man is safe for another week on the FOX hit.
On Wednesday night following judge Simon Cowell called on Santa Cruz, Rene's hometown, to get him through Thursday's elimination.
Luckily for Rene, Santa Cruz delivered.
Of the seven remaining contestants, Rene was in the top four, receiving more votes than young rapper Astro, 14-year-old songstress Drew and Bobby Brown imitator Marcus Canty.

Astro was eliminated off the bat, having received the least amount of votes. Drew and Canty then sang for one last shot to stay in the competiton, after which the judged voted 3-1 to insert Canty into the top five.
Tune in next Wednesday at eight p.m. to see if Rene can survive yet again.
