Calling all singers and songwriters: this week marks the return of Songwriters Showcase at the Britannia Arms in Capitola, the eigth year that the popular bar has hosted the event.
Every Tuesday from February through May, songwriters will showcase their musical creations and be judged based on originality, content and composition, according to event sponsor Made in Santa Cruz.
The whole contest including finals runs 11 weeks, the last three weeks of which are finals. Prizes including studio time and gift certificates will be awarded.
The eight finalists are awarded trophies donated by Brinks Awards & Signs.
