Undoubtedly some ignoramus sees "German" and played word association game 101 and felt compeled to "tag"the sign...ridiculous!!! Stephanie, I also hope that someday the swastika will occupy a less painful place in the popular imagination, although I don't expect it will happen anytime soon, considering the magnitude of what it has come to represent. However, I can think of several buildings in town that pre-date the Nazis and are decorated with swastikas. Perhaps I will feature one in the next edition of "where in Santa Cruz is this?"

It is on the corner of Plymouth and Button streets, so yes, near the Ocean street entrance to Highway 1 South, not far from Emeline.
