Soquel News, 131 Years Ago Today: "A Good Home" for Sale near "Camp Capitola"
Take a look at a newspaper classified ad from Oct. 23, 1880.
On this date (Oct. 23) in 1880, the ads pictured to the right and copied below were posted in the Pacific Rural Press, Vol. 20, No. 17.
The first is for the sale of a house and blacksmith shop in Soquel near "Camp Capitola."
Note that the classified ad was submitted by C.H. Hall. The city of Capitola was originally founded Samuel A. Hall as Camp Capitola in 1874, six years before this posting. Could Samuel A. and C.H. have been related? It certainly seems possible.
