New Farmers Market Comes to Capitola Thursday

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the Capitola Mall at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Amid much anticipation, Capitola is unveiling its first  Thursday morning.

At 10 a.m., the Capitola Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the inaugural event. Around 50 vendor spots will fill the parking lot of Capitola Mall facing 41st Ave. There will also be live music, free reusable bags, free balloons, and face painting.

"Shoppers will have a chance to create a new tradition, whether starting off their day finding the freshest ingredients for the week or maybe it’s a convenient lunch break outing," said Capitola Mall Marketing Manager Bryce Root in a press release. "Either way, we know our local shoppers will be pleased with the wide selection of vendors we’ll be having at our weekly farmers’ market."

Hosted by the Bay Area Farmers Market Association, it is the newest addition to locations in Morgan Hill, Cupertino, Mountain View, Campbell, Saratoga and San Jose.

In the coming weeks, the market is set to run Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For vendors who want to apply for a spot, click here.
