I've passed this house on Capitola Road and 47th Avenue thousands of times and every time I wonder who lives there.
Yesterday, after days of knocking on the door, I finally talked to the renter...but he doesn't want to be identified in the media. Damn.
He did tell me he's a surfer and has lived in the one-bedroom, one bath standalone for some time. He said he's always amazed at the irony of biking in a neighborhood of million dollar homes back to his simple one, for which he pays $675 a month (not that cheap, really). He says a lot of people think his home is the storage unit for the motel turned apartments behind it.
The guy studied broadcasting in college at Hayward, so the place is right in the price range, if he decides to pursue that field. He also did the mural on the back of the place.
