Get Out in Capitola-Soquel: Santa Cruz Restaurant Week, Soquel High Girls Volleyball and More

The red-hot Soquel High girls volleyball team looks to stay perfect in SCCAL play this Thursday against rival Santa Cruz High.

Where/When: Dozens of locations across Santa Cruz will be participating from Wednesday through Sunday. 

Why Go: Enjoy a gourmet three-course meal at participating local restaurants for just $25 during Santa Cruz Restaurant Week. This is a great opportunity to try specials at a or to try a new restaurant on your list. Dine at Aquarius, Casablanca, Clouds, The Crow's Nest or other fun Santa Cruz dining spots this weekend!

Why Go: Off to a sizzling 19-4 start overall, the Soquel High girls volleyball team meets up with nearby Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League foe, Santa Cruz High on Thursday night. The Knights are 4-0 in SCCAL play, defeating St. Francis-Watsonville and Mt. Madonna in three games last week. Senior captains Ragine Graves and Bria Morgan will look to keep the undefeated run going at home against rival Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz also won both league matches last week, improving to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in SCCAL action. The varsity match begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night at Soquel.

Where/When: 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy, Hollister, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Fairies and other mystical creatures will roam the grounds all weekend long during Fantasy Week at the annual Renaissance Faire in Casa de Fruta. Join Titania, the Queen of the Fairies, and others during the final weekend of the faire.

Why Go: Soak up some classic blues jams this week from singer and harmonica player Richie "The Lip" and guitar player/singer Greg "Hendu" Henderson from the Hipshake Blues Band. Grab a beverage and enjoy the free blues music this Thursday!

Why Go: Author Steven R. Boyett brings his Agony Podcast to Capitola this Saturday night at the Capitola Book Cafe.  Steven R. Boyett's I am sorry to have to tell you this is a powerful piece, from the first chilling line to the final refrain. The drama is a perfect example of what fiction can accomplish. Boyett will conduct a brief introduction about the radio drama and the Agony Colomn and answers guest questions as well.
