Get Out in Capitola-Soquel: Santa Cruz Beach Cowboys, A Writing Workshop and More

A pair of concerts at the beach and two community events at Capitola Book Cafe are on the docket this week in Capitola-Soquel.

Where/When: Capitola Book Cafe, 1475 41st Ave., Capitola, CA. Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Why Go: “Write Your Future” uses writing prompts and other motivational exercises to help you clarify ideas and gain insight to guide you in creating a new future that utilizes your special talents. Bring a writing notebook, pen and your creative self.

Where/When: Esplanade Park, Wednesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Why Go: The Santa Cruz Beach Cowboys bring their rock and roll flavor to Capitola for a beach-side concert this week. The duo of Sammy Roye and Jack Hansen formed in 1998 and have been rockin' away ever since. Bring the family, a blanket and some snacks to the beach to enjoy some classic rock.

Where/When: 225 Rooney St, Santa Cruz, CA, Thursday, 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Why Go: Women interested in increasing their visibility and expanding their business are invited to visit the Aptos Woman’s chapter of Ali Lassen’s Leads Club weekly meeting. Head out and help build a strong network and pad your referral base this week.

Where/When: Capitola Book Cafe, Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: Photographer and writer Michael Katakis has been photographing and writing about a wide range of cultures and geographic locations for the past twenty-five years. Katakis, along with anthropologist Kris Hardin, will discuss the book Photographs With Words, world travel and more.

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Friday, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Santana original lead singer Gregg Rolie hits the stage at the beach to perform classic Santana hits "Black Magic Woman", "Evil Ways" and "Oye Como Va". Rolie, an inductee in the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame, won't take long to show off his world class pedigree during the beach-side jam session this week.
