Get Out in Capitola-Soquel: Jazz Concert, Thomas the Train and More

Networking, Jazz, Thomas the Train and ET all can be found this week in the Capitola-Soquel region.

Where/When: Esplanade Park, Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Why Go: Mike Hammar and the Nails perform this week, giving locals some good ol' fashioned blues rifts to chew on. The group's latest album is titled "Recipe for the Blues" and several tracks off the last release will be performed this Wednesday evening.

Why Go: This month’s selection is The Honored Dead: A Story of Friendship, Murder and the Search for Truth in the Arab World by Joseph Braude. The murder mystery is a juicy read that should bring a lively discussion piece to dig into at the monthly gathering.

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Wednesday, 9 p.m. 

Why Go: The hits just keep on coming during the summer-long movie series at the Beach Boardwalk. This week "ET" is the main attraction, bringing viewers back to the '80s with the sci-fi classic starring a young Drew Barrymore.
