Get Out in Capitola-Soquel: Hot Rods, a Movie at the Beach and More

Conflict Resolution, Cool Cars for a great cause and some super hero fun all this week in the Capitola-Soquel region.

Where/When: Capitola Book Cafe, 1475 41st Ave., Capitola, CA. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Conflict Improv is a light, fun and enjoyable way of looking at the thornier side of relationships. Nonviolent Communications (NVC) offers a model to transform conflict into opportunity. Join NVC trainers for a lively evening of interaction aimed to strengthen your most important relationships.

Where/When: Esplanade Park, Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Mark Russo and the Classy Cats bring their classy brand of big band/swing music to the shore this week. The second to last Twilight Concert of the summer will have you, a date or the entire family dancing the night away.

Where/When: Esplanade Park, Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Why Go: This week's film is the Disney/Pixar smash-hit, "The Incredibles" starring the voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Jason Lee and Samuel L. Jackson. The super hero film is a great fit for the entire family.

Where/When: Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville, CA. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Hot Rods for Kids is a car show open to all classes of cars that was started in 2010 by Pamela Whittington and her team at Classic Cleaners as a way to raise awareness and much-needed funds for organizations serving children and youth in the community. The second annual event is being held in conjunction with the 51st Running of the Johnny Key Classic Races being held at Ocean Speedway. The combination of cool cars and a great cause makes it a must-attend weekend event. 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Get your team of four together. Sign up online and pass the word along in the community to help drum up pledge donations for a worthy cause. The money raised through the Bowl-A-Thon directly supports Haven of Hope's mission to help children thrive in our community. Haven of Hope's program provides residential treatment services to foster youth and their families. Throw a strike or two this weekend and help members in need in your community 

Pricing: $100 of pledge money raised per bowler.
