Get Out in Capitola-Soquel: Art & Wine Festival, a 9/11 Tribute with Local Flare and More

The 29th Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival headlines a busy week of events in Capitola.

Where/When: , 401 Old San Jose Rd., Soquel, CA. Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The Soquel High girls volleyball teams hosts Los Gatos High Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. The Knights have started the 2011 season red-hot, winning their first four matches of the fall campaign. Matches against Los Gatos on Tuesday night at Soquel High and against Saratoga High on the road this week will be the toughest tests to date for the Knights bunch led by head coach Kamala Sipin.

Why Go: The final movie of the summer at the beach is Beetlejuice, a dark comedy by director Tim Burton starring Michael Keaton and Geena Davis. Come out, bring some snacks and enjoy the beach breeze and a movie one last time.

Where/When: Capitola Avenue & Stockton Avenue, Capitola, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: The 29th annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival will feature over 150 fine artists, 20 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries, gourmet food, a children's art area, plus entertainment all day, all weekend long! The event is set in the beautiful, beach-side setting of Capitola Village.

Where/When: Sand N Sea Fitness 3700 Portola Dr, Santa Cruz, CA. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. 

Why Go: The Sand N Sea Fitness Boot Camp is a one-hour fitness training class designed to condition your mind, body and spirit. The main focus of the class is to improve total body fitness while meeting new friends and having fun outdoors. Join family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors in this fun, challenging, and fast-paced class. 

Pricing: $20 per class. 

Where/When: Palace Arts, 1501 41st Ave. Ste K, Capitola, CA. Sunday, 12 p.m to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: Your "9/11 Projects For Peace" station will be located at Palace Arts in Capitola. At the station, you can record short messages of gratitude to local first responders and decorate mixed media tiles that share your vision for a peaceful Santa Cruz community. Help the event organizers meet their goal to gather over 200 peace tiles from three "Projects for Peace" stations across the county to assemble in a traveling "peacetile mural installation" that will inspire civic engagement and actions to create greater unity and peace.
