Financial Issues Surface at Privates Beach

An audit by the Santa Cruz Sentinel revealed record-keeping discrepancies at the Pleasure Point beach.





Privates, a gated beach in Pleasure Point, is having trouble with its bookkeeping, according to an investigation by a local newspaper.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel audit revealed financial troubles including missing funds, a board member paying insurance costs from the member's own account and an expensive party at a local Chinese food restaurant.  

The beach is managed by the Opal Cliff Recreation District. The board has focused on improving public safety and maintaining a family-friendly beach.
