Earthquake Recap: Santa Cruz County Nearly Quake Free

After a 2.2 last week, there was barely any shaking in the county this week.

After a , and a 3.0 in San Jose, the plates under Santa Cruz County were calm over the last seven days.

Three small earthquakes, ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 on the Richter scale, hit nearly the same exact spot along the San Andreas Fault, 8 miles ESE of Watsonville, on June 20, 22 and 24. 

Just outside of the county, a 2.1 eartquake struck four miles SW of Gilroy on June 19 at 3:56 p.m.

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the Richter scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Saturday evening, no one reported feeling any of the four earthquakes in and around Santa Cruz County this week on the U.S. Geological Survey website.
