Contributed by Santa Cruz Public Libraries:
The Coastal Dog Owners Group (C-DOG) has donated $1,000 to Santa Cruz Public Libraries' Tales to Tails program. The funds were raised at this spring's highly successful C-DOG Spring Dog Festival.
"This generous donation from C-DOG will allow the Library to expand this important literacy program," said SCPL Programs & Partnerships Manager Janis O'Driscoll. "The gift of a dog's attention along with a book to read...what could be better?"
C-DOG Board President Sandi Pensinger celebrates the human-canine bond.
"We are delighted that the Spring Dog Festival can continue its support of the Library's Tales to Tails literacy program, which improves the lives of children right here in Santa Cruz County."
Tales to Tails is a free program currently hosted at the Capitola, Downtown, Felton, LaSelva Beach, and Scotts Valley branches, with plans to add more branches in 2013. The program is staffed by volunteers and overseen by Programming Librarian Laura Whaley.
