Central Fire Collects 500 Toys for Kids

The toy drive was a huge success thanks to community donations and help from Toys R Us and Target in Capitola.

Contributed by Central Fire District:

Central Fire Protection District officially completed its annual holiday toy drive on Dec. 21 as the toys collected were turned over to the Santa Cruz chapter of the Salvation Army.

Since 1988, Central Fire District has collected toys for less fortunate families in Santa Cruz County during the holiday season. During this time the California Highway Patrol has supported the toy drive as well.

This year an estimated 500 toys were collected. As part of the drive, Central Fire personnel also delivered toys to four host families living within the fire district. In addition to toys, 15 bicycles were donated by Turning Wheels for Kids.

Central Fire has participated in the bike donation grant program with Turning Wheels for the past five years.
