Allergy Watch: Pollen Levels Shooting Up This Weekend

Keep the Zyrtec nearby, it's going to be an allergic weekend.

Although the beach is alive and temperatures are rising consistently, it is still spring, which means allergy season will be around for a while.

Anyone susceptible to hay fever should be on special watch through the weekend, as pollen levels are set to reach near the top of the scale in Capitola and Soquel.

The pollen index goes from zero to 12, with 9.7 to 12 considered high, 7.3 to 9.6 medium-high and 4.9 to 7.2 medium.

Thursday in mid-county will be a 6.2 followed by 6.3 Friday. According to pollen.com, "pollen levels between 4.9 and 7.2 will likely cause symptoms for many individuals who suffer from allergies to the predominant pollen types of the season."

The weekend should really hit hard with levels predicted at 8.0 both Saturday and Sunday, which pollen.com says "tends to affect a large number of individuals who suffer from the pollen types of the season."
