Santa Cruz Derby Girls Double Header

The Santa Cruz Derby Girls Gromshells and Seabright Sirens will play their final home bouts of the 2013 season this Sunday, July 28th at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Both teams will continue to compete on the road through the fall. The league's Harbor Hellcats and Boardwalk Bombshells continue to play at the home venue through October 26th.

The Gromshells, the A Team in the SCDG junior derby program, will take on the Sac City Rollers Bad Apples. All of the skaters in the Santa Cruz Derby Groms now play full-contact roller derby, with some of the Gromshells already 5-year veterans. The Groms program has produced graduating skaters who have gone on to join the ranks of the adult league and take spots on the Harbor Hellcats and as alternates on the Boardwalk Bombshells. The Gromshells take to the road August 10th and 11th to play the SFV Juniors (San Fernando Valley) and the L.A. Junior Derby Dolls (Los Angeles).

The Seabright Sirens take on the Peninsula Roller Girls in front of their home fans before continuing the 2013 season on the road with away games on August 10th against Shasta Roller Derby (Redding), September 21st at  Rollin' Roulettes Derby Girls (Merced), and November 9that NorCal Derby Girls (Chico). Expect to see some of these Sirens move up to the Hellcats roster next season.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.ticketreturn.com, at the venue box office the day of the event, or at 903 Pacific Avenue.
