In yesterday's poll (still open for voting) we asked where the best breakfast can be found in Capitola-Soquel.
The answer: a lot of places! So far, there's no clear winner. But a handful of favorites have emerged from the pack.
1. Wharf House Restaurant: Located at the end of the Capitola Wharf, this eatery is decorated in sea-themed materials on every available inch of its interior walls. And the breakfast menu reflects that motif as well, including crab florentine, a smoked salmon omelette, a bay shrimp omelette and a grilled snapper dish. It's not easily accessible by car, but the Wharf House is worth the early-morning walk down the pier, even if only for the views.
2. Sunrise Cafe: Open now for a quarter century, Sunrise Cafe specializes in custom scrambles, which you can even have delivered to you next door at JJ's Saloon. Being easily accessible in downtown Soquel makes Sunrise a staple for plenty of residents.
3. Capitola Diner: Right on 41st Avenue, the Capitola Diner fills its roll flawlessly. It doesn't try to do too much or too little. It lives right up to its name — it's a diner. The location's traffic can make parking tough, but if you're looking for a classic breakfast, the diner does the trick.
4. IHOP: It's not exactly the mecca of home cooking, but if television-ad-reinforced-super-sweet-decadent-fare is your thing, luckily we have an IHOP in town.
5. The Cook House: The charm of the Cook House is in your face. If you're sitting at the bar you get to watch your breakfast cook right in front of you. When you walk in, you feel like you've been there before. Whether they are or not, everyone acts like they're buddies with the folks at the table next to them. When the line at Gayle's is out the door, swinging around the parking lot to The Cook House is a no-brainer.
Did your favorite make the list? Tell us in the comments and vote in the poll below if you haven't already!

Owner Carol and daughter Katherine take only 5 days off a year. That makes The Cook House more like mom's kitchen than any other restaurant in town. But even my mom didn't cook breakfast to order the way I get it there. Locals show up with hunger and leave with smiles. Try it. You'll like it. So will your mom.

Don't know what you mean about the lack of parking at the Capitola Diner. There is a whole parking lot in the rear of the building that with many ways to access. No traffic or shortage of parking there. Capitola Diner rocks!!!

Geni, that's a great way to describe the Cook House. Hard to resist.
MotherLove, just meant that from 41st it can be tough to get in and out. Good point about other access areas though.
