Hallucinogen Possession Lands Capitola Man in Jail
Stephen Michael Romero was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Santa Cruz CHP officers took a dangerous driver off the streets Tuesday after a concerned citizen reported a reckless motorist in Ben Lomond.
At about 3:30 p.m., Stephen Michael Romero of Capitola was arrested at SR-9 and El Solyo Heights after being pulled over. Officers found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and dimethyltryptamine inside Romero's blue BMW.
According to CHP Officer Sarah Jackson, dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is "a very powerful hallucinogen."
Romero, who just turned 25 on Feb. 19, and resides on the 1900 block of 46th Avenue, was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail at 4:39 p.m. for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and transporting marijuana in a vehicle.
Haven't heard of DMT before? Apparently it's also called Dimitri. Learn more about it here.
